Buffets used to EXCITE AND TERRIFY me, because of the many food choices but
š¤·š»āāļø I didn't know how to control how much I'd be eating
šØ I couldn't tell I was full until it was too late
š¤¢ I was afraid to gain weight
My old strategy to counter this was to
š š»āāļø Not eat anything before a buffet
ā Avoid going to buffets
While the 2nd point doesn't sound bad, it also meant I would either feel guilty because I'd miss out on buffet lunches with my friends/family, or I'd go and feel shame after for overeating later.
It was horribleš.
It took a while but I finally was able to use my plate as a guide! š½ļø
Fill up at least half my plate with veg Rather than filling my plate with ššš, I'd make sure that about half my plate was vegetables. This could be a saladš„, or grilled/roasted/stewed vegetablesš šš¶ļøš„¦ The other half would be protein variety š with a bit of carbs š For dessert, I'd stick to one small plateš°.
Put down utensils To make sure, I'm not stuffing my face and over-eating, I literally put down my utensils š“ between bites to be more aware of my hunger or fullness.
Nowadays I'm able to enjoy eating without guilt or shame at buffets! It's liberating! š„³
